Fertilization Service Clovis CA

Fertilization for Thick, Healthy Grass

Grass needs food to thrive, just like everything else. The nutrients it uses are typically found in the soil, but they will eventually be depleted. Lawn Fertilization helps add the nutrients back into the soil, giving the grass everything it needs to grow thick and green. However, it does need to be done carefully, as over-fertilization can damage or kill the grass.

Fertilization should begin in the spring and be done throughout the spring and summer to provide all of the nutrients the grass needs. It’s often best to use a slow-release fertilizer, as this helps spread out the release of the nutrients so the lawn doesn’t need to be fertilized as frequently. It’s always necessary to read and follow the instructions on the fertilizer bag, though it is okay to use less than the recommended amount to be safe and prevent over-fertilization.
The fertilizer is added to the lawn via a broadcast spreader. These are easy to use and can help disperse the fertilizer further, so there’s no worry about some areas getting a lot more than others and having a yard with patches of yellow grass. It’s important to time the fertilization properly, as it won’t do much good if it rains significantly and the fertilizer is washed off the grass before it reaches the soil. It’s also a good idea to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for how frequently to apply the fertilizer.

Care must be taken when fertilizing to protect the environment. Avoid fertilizing grass growing near ponds, lakes, or streams so the fertilizers aren’t washed into them when it rains. It’s also important to use the fertilizer properly. Too much can mean some of the fertilizer is washed away, which means it won’t help the grass and it can concentrate in areas where it could cause damage.
